It’s a great day for fans of the content scheduling platform Buffer. They announced their single most requested feature, integration with Google+ Pages
and profiles, is now available for all users. Also included in the integration is the ability to include Google+ text formatting in your scheduled posts, here’s how:
If the Buffer team could have had Google+ integration available yesterday, they would have. The wait was on the Google+ side and there was nothing to be done until Google’s API enabled it.
The next time you use Buffer via your browser, you’ll see an option to connect your Google+ Page to your existing Buffer account. Simply enable it and you’ll now be able to include Google+ in the accounts you can schedule posts from in your account. It also works with all of their browser extensions.
Formatting your text for Google+
What’s most important to learn is how to format your text from within the Buffer text box before posting to Google+. There are three types of formats you can include:
To create these you will use exactly the same formatting you currently use in Google+.
If you’re not familiar with Google+ text formatting, you place symbols, like an asterisk, around a word or phrase you want to highlight. An asterisk around a word makes it bold, underscore italicizes and a hyphen results in an underscore.
Google+ integration hasn’t been updated in the mobile app yet, but we expect it to be coming soon.
