HOW TO scale social media for your large brand (from 30 of the best) #SocialAtScale

Published by:

It’s not everyday you get free advice from the best in an industry, all in one place. Social@Scale: What 30 of the best minds in social think large brands must do to Succeed in Being Social At Scale is a new e-book released from Sprinklr.

Large organizations tend to be at a disadvantage with social media. They often experience the “too big to scale” phenomenon. Questions like who will lead social media efforts to implementing a social media policy overwhelm executives. While there’s lots of free advice available on the interwebz, you’ll likely spend a lot of time trying to pull the bits and pieces together into a skeleton of a plan.

Social media management system Sprinklr created a comprehensive thought leadership e-book on how the enterprise world can scale social. If there’s one thing all 30 experts agree on, it’s that it can be done.

[DISCLAIMER: I'm featured in the book. I think it's pretty cool, but I think the advice offered from the other 29 experts is even cooler.]

What’s covered?

  • How to do a Global Social Media Deployment page 7
  • 6 Things Every Enterprise Social RFP Must Have page 8
  • The Social@Scale Readiness Assessment page 63

My chapter focuses on ”How to Scale the Social Media Corporate Team at the Enterprise Level” (page 29). Most important? Your team, their workflow and giving them the necessary tools and equipment needed to do their jobs well.

You can check out the entire (free) e-book, below. And, here’s a list for all contributors who are active on Twitter.

HOW TO: Opt out of sharing your Facebook search habits in the Activity Log

Published by:

Facebook recently announced that “in addition to your other activity, you’ll be able to see the searches you’re making on Facebook.” The feature will be rolling out over the next few weeks and you’re auto-enrolled in it.

First, it’s important to note that no one besides you can see your Activity Log. Whew! However, if you don’t want that kind of search information just hanging around on the interwebz you can choose to delete this option.

Here’s how you’ll be able to update your profile if you don’t want to include searches:

Near the top of your profile (next to “Update Info), select “Activity Log”

You can access this tool by going to the top of your profile, and going to Search from the activity sorter (the option won’t be visible until it’s available to you). In the meantime, you can view all of your activity by clicking on the log.

There’s also a Shared Activity plugin that lets you control app activity while you use the mobile app.

HOW TO: Update your new Twitter header image

Published by:

Did you know there’s new social real estate available? It’s over at Twitter and it’s called a header.

Your new Twitter header is visible on your personal profile page on mobile apps for iPad, iPhone, Android and If it reminds you of Facebook’s cover photo feature, it’s because it is just like it (so it shouldn’t be too confusing). A few simple steps will have you up and running. While the header is only visible if someone visits your profile, it’s still nice to take advantage of the space. Here’s how to set up your header from

Select “settings” from the the drop down menu in the upper right hand corner of your profile page:

Next, select the “Design” option from the left hand side bar:

Click on “Change header” and either upload a photo or take a new one with your camera.

Voila! Your new header. (You can update the header from your phone, as well. Select the “Me” tab and follow the same steps as above.)

Need some inspiration? Here are a few sweet headers I’ve come across.

FAVE GIVEAWAY: Win a new iPhone 5 from @SlimBooks and @PRsarahevans

Published by:

Who doesn’t want to win the latest in mobile technology? The guys over at SlimBooks and I decided it’s much more fun to win something than to buy it. Hence, our iPhone 5 giveaway.

This week I released my first book [RE]FRAME: Little Inspirations For A Larger Purpose, with the newly launched publisher SlimBooks (@SlimBooks). I chose to publish with them because they said, “No!” to overweight books. They believe it’s no longer necessary for books to have a required  “width” in order to compete in a specific category. I hope you’ll give them a chance and give my new book a read.

One more thing…

I’m the chief evangelist at social collaboration platform, Tracky. I think they’re the bee’s knees (and so did Jason Calacanis — @jason who gave them first place for “best web app” at Future Insights Live). Give ‘em a once over, too.

Is there a catch? There’s always a catch. I just hope you think it’s more like “I caught an amazing fish” kind of catch.  This giveaway will award one random participant with the new iPhone 5 and it’s going to help out my book. Just enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below. The more actions you take, the more entries you get, increasing your chances of winning.

Thanks and good luck!

(p.s. If you want to host this giveaway on your blog, feel free. Here’s a link to the widget embed code.)

New book offers advice, practical tips to help those with big ideas and little #reframe

Published by:

Let’s cut to the chase. Don’t have a ton of extra time, but like to read? I wrote [RE]FRAME for people like you (and me). It’s practical advice for those who want to accomplish more and need a little extra kick start. Thank you to the team at SlimBooks for believing this is something people might just want to read.

Your time is valuable. I wrote [RE]FRAME with my publisher SlimBooks‘ philosophy that less is more. Each chapter averages one-and-a-half-pages making it a quick read for those with big ideas and little time. [RE]FRAME is one part personal journey and another part prescriptive steps to help people reconnect to their purpose. It reminds us all that in order to achieve something, you must first do. I’m kind of the queen of stating the obvious, but I believe, sometimes, it’s worth repeating.

Whether you’re getting ready to graduate college or are at a crossroads in your career, it’s my hope that [RE]FRAME offers you that extra boost to keep you going.

Unique to [RE]FRAME, each page is paired with a motivational image called an emoti-quote, perfect for sharing or posting on your favorite social networks. You can view a few emoti-quote teasers on Instagram or Pinterest. Of course, there’s Facebook page for that, too.

There you have it. That’s [RE]FRAME.

Want to buy a copy now? (It will be available in hard copy shortly.)

I’m also giving away three copies at midnight, tonight. Here’s how to enter:

It’s time to [RE]FRAME, reginite and reconnect.
