FAVE EXTENSION: Don’t want to see people tweeting about #SXSW? Use the “Not at SXSW browser extension”

Don’t want to see people tweeting about SXSW this year? Whether it’s because you’re sick of the chatter or jealous because work wouldn’t cough up enough to cover expenses, you can block any and all tweets.

It will be like it never even happened. No, this isn’t a George Bailey moment, it’s from the wizkids at social conference directory, Lanyrd. They developed the “Not At SXSW” browser extension which hides tweets from people you know are attending SXSW, along with any tweets mentioning SXSW.  The extension has you covered if you use Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Opera. This obviously does not apply to your mobile applications. Sorry, you’re on your own there. Honestly, if you’re that adamant on not seeing any SXSW tweets, you might just want to stay off twitter the first couple weeks of March. ;)

When you install the browser you can choose from the options below (and “deselect” them if you want to see tweets again):

The Lanyrd folks say that the extension will “become inert after March 16, by which time everyone should have returned to normal.” As if we were ever normal to begin with.

p.s. Will you be at SXSW this year? Just jokes.
