FAVE SERVICE: @batchgeo is the fastest way to create #Google Maps from your data
Calling all cartographers! Can I tell you how excited I am to FINALLY get to use that word in a post? Pretty excited. On a scale of one to 10, I’m at an 8.5. Alright, I’ll get to what you came here for.
You don’t need to be a cartographer to use BatchGeo, just copy and paste your data and magic, there’s a map. No, really. BatchGeo creates fast, embeddable and interactive Google Maps from your data. This is a huge timesaver, beneficial for consumers and aesthetically pleasing feature.
Picture this–you’re a journalist for a rrrrrrrreally big news outlet. You are on the verge of a breaking story linking hundreds of illnesses together in what is now an epidemic. To show where the heaviest areas of the outbreak are, you want to use an interactive map. Get it?
How does it work?
- Copy your data in a spreadsheet program or table (ctrl+c) If you are starting from scratch use their Spreadsheet Template to do your data entry in, then copy over to BatchGeo.
- Paste your data into BatchGeo Step 1 (ctrl+v)
- Click “Map Now”
- You’re done.
It’s a freemium model, so you do get more features with a PRO account (e.g. enhanced security, faster geocoding, PDF output, ongoing software improvements…), but you only need it if you’re going to be a hardcore user.
